well, I went out and buy myself a SSD for my system drive. I wasn't even thinking about panoramas but wanted a faster computer. I can't get the damn thing to run UDMA mode 6 -- only mode 5. On the Windows 7 assessment it is the slowest bottleneck in my computer. I can get a regular SATA drive to run UDMA mode 6 on the same port. No problem. The manufacturer of the SSD has been no help. You have any ideas?

With no name or model for the SSD itself or its size, no Motherboard description. About the only conclusion would be study the Spec's more closely in the future! Mode 5 to Mode 6 is only a 30% improvement anyway. – Geoff Jan 29 at 11:47

sorry Geoff. I didn't really think it mattered what operating system I had. I didn't want to bother you with the details. Anyway it's Windows 7 64-bit. I'm using a NSI-P55-GD65 motherboard and the SSD is a Imation M class 64 GB. The thing is a regular SATA hard drive will run in the same slot at UDMA 6 and the new SSD will not even though it's operating instructions say it is recommended if you want to get any speed out of it. I'm a bit disappointed that the hard drive is the slowest component of the Windows assessment. Everything else rates 7.5 and the disc only 6.5 so I wanted to get it into UDMA mode6. thank you for your input though.

Sorry that is..... MSI-P55-GD65 – Gil Feb 6 at 1:14
Thanks Geoff. Yes I did try it on both ports and I downloaded the new BIOS but haven't installed it. They say I need a Floppy! Whats that?! (-: haven't seen one for years. I will try with a bootable USB drive maybe. Yhink that will do? Imation has not been helpful at all. Thanks again – Gil Feb 8 at 15:19

Which SATA port did you try the card on, Port 7 is different from 1-6 as its a JMicron 363 Bridge port, rather than an Intel P55 port. It might be worth trying out both types.
Have you checked that your on the latest BIOS as I see they have updated the chipsets modules early on ? http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1846
If as you say a SATA hard drive is working on the same SATA port and you try out the ideas above then it maybe its time to challenge Imation on the matter ?
