They never stay where you want and you get all these ghosts to edit out. On a more serious note: I have been wondering if there is a way to do "action" photos - a faster way to get the shots. I am working with a Nikon D90 + Nikkor 10,5 mm., a total of 8 shots including zenith and nadir. So, I am almost garanteed a total time per panorama of 10 seconds. Vincent Royer 2010-05-27T17:49:11Z 2010-06-12T05:41:06Z
Hi,

First, I want to thank Jeffrey Martin for helping me get rid of the tripod in panoramas by using the viewpoint correction in PTGui Pro. It works fine when I make a new panoramas taken with one additionnal nadir photo (without the tripod).

But I have several good panos for which I did not take the additionnal nadir photo (without the tripod). So I am stuck with these panos showing a black polygon or the tripod. They were taken using 28 photos and some are impossible to be taken again.

I have seen many panos at 360cities.net showing a "circular badge" or a small spherical photo of the pano itself, masking away the darn polygon/tripod.

Can someone tell me the process to include this badge/spherical photo in my existing panoramas ?

Thank you in advance !

Vincent
http://panoverflow.com/questions/222/how-to-mask-the-tripod-when-you-take-28-photos-for-one-panoramic-photo How to mask the tripod when you take 28 photos for one panoramic photo Vincent Royer 2010-05-21T01:48:50Z 2010-06-04T09:22:57Z
Hi, I am wondering how to mask the tripod when I take 28 photos to make one panoramic photo. Most answers I read are for panoramic photos taken with fisheyes lenses and comprising around 7 photos. In this method, the photographer takes an hand-held photo of the nadir and hides the tripod using the "cut and paste method" in photographic software like Photoshop, before stitching it.

I don't use a fisheye lens so I have to take 3 sets of 9 photos, at 40 degrees intervals horizontally (9X40=360 degrees). The first serie is tilted towards the ground at around 40 degrees (so I dont photograph the tripod), the second at around 10 degrees (close to horizontal) and the third at around 50 degrees (pointing upwards). I then take a last photo perfectly aimed at Zenith (top of the bubble). When I stitch all those photos in PTGui Pro, the tripod doesn't show and there is a nonagonal (nine sides) figure masking it. When I generate a QuickTIme VR file (.MOV file) in PTGui Pro, I lock the "tilt" at around -65 degrees so the viewer doesn't have access to the "bottom" of the bubble. This is a quite elegant "work around" but it is useless when I generate a JPEG file, as requested in 360cities.net (the JPEG shows the black nonagonal figure).

My question is: How can I replace this nonagonal figure with an advertising or a small "planet-like" photo in the finished JPEG photo (resulting of 28 stiched photos) ?
http://panoverflow.com/questions/214/samyang-8mm-f-3-5-hugin-projection-method SAMYANG 8mm f/3.5 + hugin - projection method elvenking 2010-05-15T14:40:42Z 2010-05-31T08:23:08Z
Hello, i tried to shoot spherical panorama and stiched it in Hugin. Since then I have invested a lot of money. I bought a Nodal Ninja III Mk.II for my Nikon D90, but soon discovered problems with size and weight. So I got the brilliant idea: why not modify the head with spare parts from the Nodal Ninja 5? Not a brilliant idea Nodal replied, but we'll upgrade for 230 Euros. That inspired a new idea: why not build your own? I have found a lot of DIY pano heads on the net. The only thing I need is the talent and gift to do decent metal work.
